The building’s extensive top-to-bottom renovation, begun in 2016 and now nearing completion, includes the façade with a new high-performance double-glazed curtain wall system, the installation of a prominent new breezeway entry on Avenue of the Americas, a reconfiguration of existing entrances reception desks and lobby circulation, a restoration of all lobby features, including the Copacabana-patterned terrazzo floor, installation of a high-tech security system, renovated elevator cab interiors with a new destination dispatch system, along with various new mechanical systems. The building’s outdoor plaza is also undergoing a complete redesign, with new landscaping and transforming of seating areas and fountains, as well as replacement and extension to curbside of the building’s distinctive Copacabana-patterned paving.
